Twenty years' experience has taught me how to make high power magnetic loop antennas that use self supporting copper tubing with a bolt-on vacuum variable capacitor , that is lightweight, yet takes the power. A manual stepper motor control makes tuning the antenna easy. A Russian style doorknob capacitor matching extends frequency range of my magnetic loop antenna. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are all over the news, taking over academia, getting billions of dollars of commercial investment, and will change both computer networking and wireless communications in fundamental ways. What does the future of amateur radio look like when radios use machine learning to operate? How does our relationship to the bands change with cognitive radio? Where are we in this transformation? What will happen next? This presentation was made at the QSO Today...

"This is a beginner's Buildathon based on some very simple station accessories. We will build a straight key with microprocessor based electronic keyer with sidetone oscillator. Use this with a pair of headphones to practice sending Morse Code. We will also build a simple wire antenna which will be an end fed Zepp antenna with associated tuner. Added to the Sunday Intermediate Buildathon featuring an elementary transceiver you will then have a complete QRP station. Just add some headphones...

Most magnetic loop antennas in the 100 Watt + category use a variable vacuum capacitor. This is the best choice if you don't mind that these are expensive, big and heavy, fragile, and "made in Russia". For this project I decided to take the path less traveled and made a tuning capacitor inspired by the "Leyden Jar", the first embodiment of a capacitor. By Rex Harper W1REX and Stephen Houser N1SH In this Buildathon, we will be building a fairly simple but fully functional HF transceiver for the 40m band. It is based on the classic 'Pixie' design and has been built by beginner hams for decades. While we have added a few changes to make it perform better than the earlier versions of the Pixie, it is still fairly simple and straightforward to build by beginners. Used in conjunction with the station accessories Buildathon on Saturday, all you have...

Many hams would like to have remote control of their home station, or a remote site to operate a different location, or a place where there is less noise or it is easier to erect antennas. Bruce Perens K6BP is developing a remote rig controller based on an ESP32 Audio Kit board that can be purchased on AliExpress for $14 or less. It connects to the internet via your WiFi router and controls a radio with CAT or CI-V, and is simple enough to be within the range of most licensed Amateurs to set...
